Communication To Residents From WHOA Chairperson Directors

Dear Residents

The serious incident that took place on Friday night at the Woodhill Clubhouse clearly poses a serious security and safety threat to our community. Given the seriousness of the event the Woodhill Directorate deem it necessary to provide an update following the communication on Monday as well as media statements, and actions to prevent a repeat.

The Board met on Sunday to obtain detail as well as agree on the process going forward to manage the current situation, understand the contributory elements leading up to the incident and agree on mitigating processes going forward. It is important to reconfirm the Board’s commitment, support and confidence in Alan Hargroves and his management team. This has been a challenging and traumatic experience for the Management and staff.

We can confirm the following:

  • The perpetrator was granted bail and has been denied entry to the Estate as part of his bail conditions.
  • Themba our duty Manager has undergone a successful operation and is in positive and high spirits.
  • Woodhill will cover Themba’s medical expenses and legal costs.
  • Trauma counselling has been arranged for all affected staff.
  • An independent investigator has been appointed to assist Management in doing a detailed investigation into the events and provide a detailed report and recommendations going forward.
  • The matter is sub judice and communication that could jeopardise the case should be avoided.
  • Should you have any clarifying questions address your communication in writing to gm@woodhill.co.za – Management will endeavour to answer where possible.
  • We respectfully request that residents avoid utilising social media platforms with negative comments that clearly brings about unnecessary anxiety.
  • We commit to keeping you informed as events unfold.

Kind Regards

Frank van Heerden
