Dear Residents

GENERAL COMMUNIQUE – INCIDENT AT CLUBHOUSE ON FRIDAY 10 NOVEMBER 2023

We refer to the above altercation which unfortunately occurred in the WCC clubhouse at approximately 22h00 on Friday evening which has also now attracted some attention from the media.

The incident was alcohol related and following swift and decisive actions taken by our WCC Security partners, the Garsfontein SAPS Detectives and our legal team the Board is now in a position to confirm the following:

• A resident of WCC was apprehended and appeared in the Pretoria Magistrates Court on 14 November 2023, and was formally indicted. 

• It was confirmed that the accused holds a Congolese Passport with no previous convictions or outstanding warrants in his name.

• A firearm was also handed in at the SAPS.

• Unfortunately, one of our WCC employees was wounded in his hand when he, in the execution of his duties, tried to stop the accused.

• The State did not oppose an application for bail and the case was postponed to 28 November 2023 for further investigation.

Stringent conditions of bail were however imposed at our behest which inter alia, include the following:

• The accused is not allowed to enter the Woodhill Estate in its entirety, and he has already found alternative accommodation.

• All biometrics and access cards were withdrawn with immediate effect.

• His passport was handed over to the investigating detective.

• The accused is also not allowed to make any contact with the complainant, any potential witnesses or any member of the WHOA staff or Management.

We can confirm that all our security teams are, and will remain on full alert.

We request that residents refrain from requesting finer details of this matter in order to protect the process which is now sub judice.

Rest assured the residents wellbeing is paramount for us at all times, and we see this as an isolated incident with little likelihood of a reoccurring.
