Turf Maintenance Update

Dear Woodhill Members,

Preparing for the New Season!

As winter winds down, our dedicated turf team is enthusiastically preparing for the upcoming growing season. We’re excited to share some of the key updates and upcoming projects that will enhance the quality of the course.

Irrigation Improvements

  • New filters have been installed at the pump house to prevent pebbles from obstructing the system and to ensure optimal sprinkler performance.
  • We are diligently cleaning and maintaining all sprinklers, a process that will continue throughout the season.
  • We will be dredging the dam between the 9th and 18th fairways, which will enhance water quality and increase our irrigation capacity.

 Tee-Box Enhancements

  • New grass has been planted on tee boxes where it was previously missing, and we are closely monitoring these areas to ensure healthy growth before the season begins.
  • The team will also be levelling forward tees, including blue tees, to ensure a smooth and enjoyable playing experience.

Spring Treatment

  • With warmer morning temperatures on the horizon, we’ll commence our spring treatment in August. This will include scarifying rough areas and verti-cutting fairways and tee boxes, followed by top-dressing and fertilisation.

Hollow-Tining

  • Hollow-tining of the greens is scheduled for Monday, 2 September – with the course closed for that week. We anticipate reopening for play on the Friday afternoon, 6 September.
  • Prior to hollow-tining, a spray program will be implemented to flush salts from the greens, promoting a successful process and quick recovery.

We look forward to sharing progress with members through short videos and/or photos, giving you insight into our efforts and the improvements made.

Thank you for your continued support as we prepare for an outstanding season ahead!

Best Regards,
Management
