Board Meeting 17th September 2024 Summary
Further to the first board meeting of the new WHOA Board of Directors after the AGM, solid discussions were held on the way forward.
A key outcome of this meeting was to agree on a ‘Focus Session’ to ensure all of us are aligned with current and future project plans.
Sub-committees have been duly constituted to deal with several aspects, namely, the City of Tshwane Infrastructure challenges, and the Rand Water Board Pipeline.
The BoD agreed to take the recent RWB Pipeline appeal on judicial review. Following a meeting with the legal team, there is a strong belief that the decision to decline our appeal is flawed. We will also continue to try engaging with RWB senior executives to mediate and find an amicable solution to everyone’s benefit.
We received presentations on installing solar solutions at the clubhouse, workshop and gate houses to mitigate current electricity challenges. This drove strong debate and the BoD agreed to delay any solution until such time that we have explored the holistic approach to ‘self-sufficiency’. Energy Management forms part of this, and we have already taken actions to measure and manage current electricity consumption with the view to increase efficiencies.
Infrastructure maintenance on our streetlights continues, and road markings will start this week. There are localized pothole repairs being done but there is still a need to seal our roads. We continue to engage with CoT with the hope they will eventually start repairing their infrastructure.
Upgrades to the Padel area was discussed but agreement was to hold this in abeyance until we had completed our total planning and prioritization.
Phase 2 of the Workshop upgrade was approved, and the contractor will begin these improvements starting on the 25th September.
Gardens across the common areas of the estate continue to receive high focus and we should start to see these areas flourish soon.
Decisions taken based on our AGM approved budget and capex are:
We will continue providing communications on project specific progress but feel free to reach out to myself or any of the BoD with matters you wish to address.
