Are you a scratch golfer? I know I am because every time I hit the ball, I scratch my head wondering where on Earth it went.
As the festive season approaches, we anticipate a bustling time at Woodhill Golf Club, with an influx of visitors and social rounds. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding during this busy period, as it is also one of our peak times for foot traffic through the club.
We are pleased to announce that we have officially wrapped up the golf days for 2024. It has been a remarkable year marked by positive changes, including the addition of new faces to the Woodhill management team.
We recently celebrated our annual Founders Day on November 17, which saw great participation and camaraderie among our longstanding members. Congratulations to our overall winners for the day:
As a reminder, the Woodhill Honours Board will be updated in early January 2025, incorporating the results from Founders Day and the latest achievements in the hole-in-one section.
If you missed out on our annual Black Friday sale, don’t worry! We will be hosting a special members-only sale in January, featuring fantastic deals that will be revealed closer to the date. Make sure to save some of your bonus for this exciting event!
A special thank you goes out to the CMH Group for their generous support in rebranding the 600 sprinkler distance markers on the golf course. This improvement has been well-received by players who prefer not to use GPS units for distance measurement.
If you’ve been on the course recently, you may have noticed that we are in the process of upgrading the bunkers on the signature 12th hole. The new sand will take some time to settle, and we ask for your understanding as you may encounter some plugged lies in the upcoming weeks. We believe this fresh new look will significantly enhance the overall Woodhill Country Club experience and pave the way for future bunker renovations.
From all of us on the golf team, we wish you a wonderful Christmas filled with joy and laughter alongside family and friends. If you’re traveling during this time, please do so safely.
Summer is back and so are the rains and adverse weather conditions that could result in curtailed rounds.
Members are reminded that all rounds of golf must be closed out following play. The same applies to incomplete rounds caused by adverse weather. Any round not closed out will incur a penalty score which will adversely affect your Handicap Index (HI). From the date of a penalty score it will take 20 rounds to be erased from the scores determining how your HI is calculated. It is therefore imperative that rounds are closed out following play. Members have until 23h00 on the day following play for score entry otherwise a penalty score will automatically be applied by the HNA system.
Graphic copies of the procedure to be used when inputting incomplete round scores into the terminal/HNA App are displayed in the changing rooms, Pro Shop and at the terminal outside the men’s changing room.
Penalty Scores accumulated by WCC members.
The Handicap Committee provided figures for the recent AGM highlighting how the occurrence of penalty scores attributed to our members is increasing dramatically. We are currently running at 1426 penalty scores for the year. Of these penalties 119 have been removed for various valid reasons.
Just a word of caution to all members. Should you apply to enter any GNGU, GolfRSA, Regional or Elite Club tournament, player profiles will be checked for penalties and in all likelihood, entry will be denied if you do have a bad penalty record on your HNA profile.
Woodhill Country Club only allows one penalty score removal per year unless there are extenuating circumstances. Application for removals must be addressed to the mail address below.
