Update on Security Incident
Dear Residents,
Following the recent security incident involving break-ins within Woodhill Estate, we would like to provide you with a detailed update. We understand the concern and unease such events can cause and assure you that this matter is being handled with the seriousness and urgency it deserves.
On Monday, 8 September, the Board of Directors convened an emergency meeting to discuss the incident in detail, together with senior representatives from Xone Security. A comprehensive review of the breach and an in-depth assessment was done to evaluate our existing security approach and identify immediate actions to strengthen it.
The investigation revealed that the initial breach occurred in a vulnerable area outside the estate’s formal perimeter, on private property adjacent to the 17th green on the golf course. This specific area falls outside the jurisdiction of the estate’s surveillance system and the installation of security cameras is currently restricted due to privacy regulations.
Despite these limitations, our security infrastructure responded swiftly. When the breach at the perimeter was detected, the Control Room immediately dispatched the Armed Response Team, which arrived on the scene within two minutes. However, by the time of arrival, the perpetrators had fled and hidden somewhere within the golf course terrain. An increased security presence was deployed, but the suspects were not located at the time.
It was later discovered that the individuals had already made their way into the estate, managing to bypass street cameras with clear knowledge of their locations. Unfortunately, they burglarised three homes before being detected again on surveillance as they attempted to exit the estate.
The Board and security team have since implemented a series of urgent and proactive security measures, including:
- A full review of revision of Standard Operating Procedures.
- Static guarding deployed to the vulnerable area at the golf course.
- Increased patrols, both within and outside the estate perimeter.
In addition to the above, the estate is actively investigating in advanced technology systems to further strengthen our defences. These include:
- Installation of enhance night-vision and thermal imaging cameras.
- Deployment of drones with thermal imaging capabilities for wide-area surveillance.
- Activation of the lightning siren system in the event of future perimeter breaches, accompanied by broadcast alerts to all residents to ensure awareness of the situation.
The Board of Directors remain fully committed to protecting the safety and peace of mind of every resident. The Board has also given full backing and support to estate management and security teams to implement the necessary measures to prevent recurrence.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time. While no security system is infallible, please be assured that every step is being taken to adapt, strengthen and future-proof the estate’s defences and security systems.
The team will continue to keep residents updated as further enhancements are rolled out.
Best Regards,
Management
