Golf Scoring News from Rosh Schoeman
Dear Members,
Golf Scoring News – A remarkable Milestone at Woodhill
At Woodhill, we are privileged to witness many great moments on the course – from personal bests to club victories. But every now and then, a truly rare achievement comes along that deserves special recognition. Today, it’s my pleasure to share one such moment with our valued golf members.
Golf Scoring Percentages – just how rare is excellence?
- Breaking 100: Around 55 – 60 % of golfers achieve this milestone.
- Breaking 90: Only about 25% regularly break 90.
- Breaking 80: A mere 5 – 10 % reach this level.
- Breaking 70: Fewer than 1% of golfers ever shoot in the 60s – usually only scratch golfers or professionals.
To put it into perspective: Out of 100 golfers, roughly 60 break 100, 25 break 90, 5 – 10 break 80 and just 1 might break 70.
Shooting Your Age:
- Fewer than 1% of golfers will ever manage to “shoot their age”.
- Some studies suggest it’s rare as 1.0089% – less than 9 in a million – particularly on courses measuring 6000 yards or more.
Congratulations to Louis Bekker!
A huge congratulations to Louis Bekker (Woodhill Honorary Member) for achieving this rare feat by shooting his age – 73 gross. This is not only an exceptional individual performance, but also a first ever reported and logged success at Woodhill.
Well done Louis – an inspiration to all of us at the club!
Wishing all members a great weekend.
Best Regards,
Rosh Schoeman
