Golf Course Update – 1st & 10th Pro Tee Boxes
Dear Members,
Members may have noticed that our Turf Maintenance Team has started stockpiling soil around the back (Pro) tee boxes on holes 1 and 10. This material will be used to raise the level of these tee boxes so that they are more closely aligned with the height of the newly constructed walls surrounding the front teeing areas.
The primary reason for this work is golfer safety. With the current difference in elevation, there is a risk that a ball played from the back tees could strike the wall in front and ricochet back towards golfers on the tee or into the surrounding area. Raising the teeing surfaces will help reduce this risk and create a safer, more enjoyable playing environment when the Pro tees are in use.
We are also taking the opportunity to make good use of suitable soil generated by other projects currently underway on the course, rather than purchasing and transporting all the material required. This includes soil from the construction of the wall behind the 9th green, as well as material from the new bunkers being constructed to the left of the 12th fairway as part of the new short-game practice area.
By moving this soil directly to the 1st and 10th Pro tees, we can put material already available on the course to good use, while reducing unnecessary hauling and the need to purchase additional soil. This is a practical and cost-effective approach that allows us to continue improving the safety, functionality and overall presentation of these teeing areas.
